Learn the trick to a sultry smokey eye in these 5 easy steps:

1. Prime your eyelid with your favorite primer to prevent this smokey look ​
from creasing and looking like a hot winter mess!

2. Pick any dark eye shadow and tap it on your eyelid with a small, flat
brush up to the crease. Make sure not to go too far up the crease with
this dark color - your eye shadow will 'expand' in space once you
blend.

3. With a soft, wide blending brush, begin blending your eye shadow up
to the crease and out towards your temples. Take your time with this! The
perfect smokey eye needs to be blended over and over to create the
'smokey' effect.  

4. Line your bottom waterline with a black kohl pencil and use a pencil
brush to line the bottom eye area under your lashes with the same color
you used on the top. Blend the black pencil with the eye shadow to create
a smokey look on the bottom waterline. Make sure to connect the upper
and lower lid makeup for a cohesive look.

5. Apply 2-3 coats of your favorite black mascara
